Short for “bivouac”, a bivvy is a thin, lightweight sleeping bag that provides emergency shelter and shields you from the elements as you sleep in the wilderness.
We recommend using our Escape Bivvies with your sleeping bag to create a warmer, more weather-resistant sleeping environment. Simply put your sleeping bag inside of your Escape Bivvy for up to an additional 10 to 15 degrees of temperature rating. Our Thermal Bivvy also works great as an outer layer for your sleeping bag.
Our Escape Bivvies can add 10 to 15 degrees of extra temperature rating to your sleeping bag.
We recommend spot cleaning your bivvy with mild soap and water and air drying.
The Escape Bivvy has a full hood, draw cord closure, 23 inch side zipper, and a fully formed foot box. The material is breathable, and therefore will have less condensation formation than a standard emergency blanket. The escape Bivvy weighs in at 8.5 ounces, and the Thermal Bivvy at 8.9 ounces. The Escape Bivvy reflects 70% of body heat, and the Thermal Bivvy reflects 80%. The Thermal Bivvy has no hood, a 32 inch Velcro side opening, and Velcro foot vent.
